What can you do with a 1.5L Plastic Bottle?

What can you do with a 1.5L Plastic Bottle?
a. You can throw it away.
b. You can bring light to thousands and millions of houses in the Philippines.
MyShelter Foundation, the people behind Design Against the Elements and Bottle School Project now brings you a Liter of Light (Isang Litrong Liwanag)
Isang Litrong Liwanag (A Liter of Light), is a sustainable lighting project which aims to bring the eco-friendly Solar Bottle Bulb to disprivileged communities nationwide. Designed and developed by students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Solar Bottle Bulb is based on the principles of Appropriate Technologies – a concept that provides simple and easily replicable technologies that address basic needs in developing communities.
Most of the houses in poor communities are victims of fire caused by faulty electrical connections. A Liter of Light Project will enable us to bring light to their homes in a safe way plus save the environment through the recycling of the plastic bottles. Talk about hitting 2 birds with one stone.
